The solar system consists of the sun, eight planets, satellites, asteroids, and meteoroids. The sun is the star at the center of the solar system. It contains extremely hot gases. The sun is the main source of heat and light in the solar system. A celestial body (plural celestial bodies) is an object that is located outside of the atmosphere of the earth, such as a comet, an asteroid, a meteor, the Moon, a planet, the Sun, or a star. An orbiting planet is a large celestial body that revolves around the sun. It does not have its own light, it acquires light from the sun. As the third planet from the Sun, Earth is the only planet to have an atmosphere containing free oxygen, oceans of water and life. Earth is the fifth largest planet in our solar system. There are eight planets in our solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, which are in increasing order of distance from the Sun. Moons are the satellites of the earth. One-quarter of the earth's diameter is occupied by it.
